STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 1

Stiff IQ Fluorocarbon is essential in tying this unique presentation.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 2

Cut 10 inches or so of the fluorocarbon and tie a hair loop in the end.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 3

Thread on your chosen hook bait and secure it with a hair stop.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 4

Now slide a Longshank X hook onto the link.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 5

Slide the hook up the link until it sits just under the bait, like this.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 6

Making the first turn away from the eye closeure, begin to whip the hook on.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 7

Whip right up the shank, knotless knot style.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 8

Once you've whipped 18 or so times, whip three times back along the barrel of the knot, securing it.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 9

Push the IQ back through the eye and complete the knotless knot. The three extra whips prevent the knot from springing apart.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 10

This is how the rig should now look.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 11

Mould some Dark Matter putty around the mono, two inches from the hook eye.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 12

Double over the other end of the link and slide a swivel on, like this.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 13

Form an overhand knot using the doubled loop - this is the beginning of the palomar knot.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 14

Take the loop over the other eye of the swivel and pass the swivel though completely.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 15

Thoroughly moisten the knot and tighten it down.

STIFF BOTTOM BAIT: STEP 16

That's the stiff bottom bait rig done.
