ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 1

These are the bits you'll need to make Elliott's wafters.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 2

Start by measuring out one pop-up tub of 50/50 High Leakage mix.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 3

Now measure out some Polaris in the same tub. Use slightly less.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 4

Mix the two powders together in a pan.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 5

Now crack an egg into a mixing bowl.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 6

Suck 3ml of Blackcurrant flavour into a syringe and add it to the bowl.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 7

Now draw 5ml of Tangerine Juice into the syringe and add that too.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 8

Mix the egg and flavour together.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 9

Now add a pinch of orange flavour - a little goes a long way.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 10

Once mixed in, this is how the liquid should look.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 11

Now add the powders.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 12

Mix and add more powder until a paste comes together.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 13

Work the paste in your hands, it should be relatively soft.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 14

Pop the paste into a paste gun, or roll sausages by hand.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 15

Gun the paste across a rolling table.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 16

Roll the baits out.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 17

Pop the rolled baits onto some kitchen towel.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 18

Boil the paste balls for 90 seconds.

ELLIOTT'S FRUITY WAFTERS: STEP 19

Dry the boiled baits and pop them into a tub with some neat flavour blend.

Elliott's Fruity Wafters Mechanics

These attractor hook baits pack a citrus punch that carp find irresistible, especially during the winter. They've been designed to negate the weight of the hook and therefore act more naturally. By mixing Polaris pop-up mix and 50/50 High Leakage base mix, Elliott is able to create a buoyant bottom bait, or wafter, that does just that.

You'll notice that he prefers to dye the baits a dull orange colour, which certainly seems to catch the eye, and is much more subtle than the conventional fluoro attractor baits. The combination of Blackcurrant and Orange is simply lovely, and make a blend that long-time carpers will appreciate!
