Korda Tacklesafe

TackleSafe - Terminal Tackle and Rig Storage

The Tackle Safe is a compact addition to our terminal tackle and rig storage range, and has become just as popular as the classic Rig Safe and Chod Safe products.

Test

Following on from the success of our Rig Safe range, the Tackle Safe was born for those anglers who want to carry essential items of terminal tackle in as compact a form as possible. It’s a compact end tackle system, complete with a ruler and soft-touch, non-slip outer coating, and is perfect for storing the essential end tackle you need quick and easy access to.

On either side of this central area, you have compartments designed to hold lead clips, tail rubbers, or similar – each with a flip lid that clips into place so that they can’t spill out, yet is easily opened when needed.

On the opposite side (the shallower half of the magnetic clam-shell design) you have a number of compartments suited to the smaller metal items we carry, such as rig rings and swivels.

Placed centrally are two larger compartments - the first of which is big enough to hold a number of packets of hooks, and the second is for baiting needles, shrink tube, anti-tangle sleeves, or similar.

Preparation between sessions is something that is rarely discussed in the carp fishing world but is something that I consider can be important. These days we all accept that location is king, but once the carp are located and the rigs are in place, what else can we do to help maximise results? Darrell Peck

Darrell Peck - Preparation with Tackle Safe

We believe the answer to less clutter, more carp lies in the preparation. Different venues can require different equipment, and anglers often find themselves, in-between sessions, fine-tuning everything. When targeting new venues lots of people tend to carry stuff that I don’t often end up using, but bring for fear of being without (we all do it)! The real beauty of campaign fishing is seeing the scenarios you will find yourself in and better preparing for them the next time.

Darrell Peck describes carp fishing, in general, to be about intense moments sandwiched between hours of looking and waiting. Experience has taught him that being prepared for these moments will certainly help put extra fish on the bank and he has a solid example of this.

Picture the scene - you are dead to the world, fast asleep, and are awoken up by a screaming take. You play the fish, taking ten minutes to land it, and when you look down into the net it’s a 15lb common. Nice, but its not a big fish for the venue, not even average and right now his bigger more desirable friends have continued to feed on your carefully prepared spot. You’ve not got any rigs tied, you’ve not any hooks sharpened, and in the dark in your state of tiredness it takes a full hour before you have constructed a new rig and re-cast!

Having rigs pre-tied and safely stored in products such as the ChodSafe or RigSafe, and re-casting the rod immediately, will catch you more fish, especially if the re-cast is made accurately at the first time of casting. Darrell says; "being prepared and organized on the bank is absolutely vital, and anything I can do to reduce what I carry or to speed up a process, will be considered."

The Tackle Safe fits into this ethos perfectly, as it’s much more ‘minimalist’ than the standard-sized tackle boxes that most carry. There will be times when Darrell, Danny, and other members of Team Korda carry a Tackle Box as well, but once they have fine-tuned exactly what they need on a venue, this beautifully designed product not only aids their approach but also help keep everything organised and readily to hand.

Tom Dove explains the Tackle Safe

When the Tackle Safe first launched Danny Fairbrass was not an immediate adopter of this forward-thinking product. The usual early adopter didn't see how (or where) the compact end tackle storage system would fit into his personal fishing. Product developer Tom Dove maintained his belief that DF would love the product if he gave himself an opportunity to use it... this video shows the results of that conversation.
