The German Workshop

Sixteen young lads and two young women were invited to join members from Team Korda on the banks of the lake Hubertusgewässer in the city of Emmerich am Rhein. This was to attend Germany's version of the Carp Academy that we hold here in England.
The picturesque 12-acre gravel pit, near the well-known River Rhine, holds some stunning carp to over 45lb. Some of the invited kids came from all over Europe to take part at the popular Korda Workshop in Germany. Kai Mauterer travelled together with his father from the south of Germany more than 600 Kilometers to the workshop.
The longest journey was for Jan Schellmann who was from Austria. He travelled together with his family over 1000 Kilometre to get to this event. That really does show just how popular this event has become.
During the 3rd Korda workshop, a lot of techniques such as location, spodding, groundbaiting, rig safety, lead systems, carp care and many more tactics were demonstrated as the pupils looked over the shoulders of the sponsored anglers from Korda.
Some of the brand new Korda Surface Products were also demonstrated. The lessons of the workshop have been filmed by Carpheart TV and will be shown in the next TV show as well, so please watch out. This is basically a German TV show that can be seen on their website.
Through the cold and particularly bad weather conditions during the last couple of weeks the results haven’t been very good. Only a few small carp and a few bream were caught. But for the learning curve of the pupils it has been a successful weekend anyway.
Now, the first email we received since the workshop was from Jan Schellmann from Austria. He had a lovely common from his local water. He took some of the learned strategies into his own fishing and it paid off handsomely. Some of the other pupils had amazing results too with the unshaped, self-made pop-ups that were demonstrated during the workshop using Mainlines Polaris Mix scoring highly.
It really was a fantastic event and we thank all the sponsors involved, we really appreciate it.
Keep an eye out on the site if you are interested, as dates will be confirmed later this year.
