The Full House

Simon Mansbridge has been in touch to let us know about a campaign that he conducted on the Famous Home Pool at Chad Lakes. The little lake, run by Dave Ayres, is home to Blackeye; one of the most-recognisable carp in the UK. He told us, “My campaign ran from March to September. The lake contains around 33 carp and during my time there I landed 40 fish. That meant a few repeats of course, including the 35lb mirror called Two-Tone four times and the second biggest in the lake, The Red Fish, twice at 42lb 15 and 41lb 8oz. Other highlights were mirrors called Snoopy at 33lb 14oz, Walter at 30b 8oz, The Fully at 30lb 14oz and finally in September, Blackeye at 53lb 8oz. This completed all but one of the lake’s A-team (a common around 30lb that I will go back for this winter). The fish were caught mainly using either 18lb Weed Green Supernatural or Hybrid Soft hook lengths, 2oz Korda inline pear leads, size 6 Wide Gapes with 1.2mm shrink-tube kickers and medium rig rings to give the hook baits more freedom of movement.”
Well Simon, it sounds like you really got to grips with the lake and best of luck for your winter campaign in search of that 30lb common.
