The Big Fish Off first episode success - Dean Macey

The first episode of brand-new ITV4 series The Big Fish Off has received an overwhelmingly positive reception – with viewing figures exceeding expectations and the angling community giving the show glowing reviews.

Co-presenter Dean Macey, who along with Ali Hamidi fronts the celebrity challenge-based angling show, said: “Having put our hearts and souls into making The Big Fish Off, it was great to see so many positive comments on social media and in messages to the team following the first episode.

“We’re overwhelmed with the response and we can promise that the next four episodes get stronger and stronger as the series progresses. The next episode, starring actor Julian Lewis Jones and reality star Kirk Norcross, was filmed in Spain and features even more laughs, fish and on-the-bank action.

“We’re trying to capture the fun side of angling in a mainstream television program that appeals to anglers and non-anglers alike, whatever walk of life they’re from,” said Dean.

If you missed the hour-long first episode of The Big Fish Off, repeats are airing on ITV4 at 11.25am on Saturday, 14th February and Sunday, 15th February at 7pm.

Episode 2 airs on Wednesday, 18th February at 8pm.
