Spring Success - Rich Stewart

Our very own Online Media Manager, Richard Stewart, has kicked off his spring fishing in style, banking a trio of fish from prolific Kent venue, Chilham Mill. Rich was there to shoot a feature with Adam Penning, that you’ll see very soon. The duo moved across the lake onto showing fish, with Rich setting up in peg 12 for the night. Rich flicked two hinged stiff rigs and a snowman rig to predominantly shallow water at around 60 yards.
The left-hand rod looked like a definite banker, because fish repeatedly showed over it, crashing and rolling over light choddy silt. Rich only had to wait until midnight for his first action, when the favoured rod tore off with a 29lb common on the end.
The rest of the night passed quietly, until 10am the following day, when the right-hand rod ripped off. After a protracted scrap in the margins he was able to slide the net under another fish, this time a mirror. The fish looked close to thirty pounds, but in fact registered eight ounces under. Both twenty nines fell to Scent From Hell pop-ups from Baitworks, which have become a real spring favourite of Rich’s.
While returning the mirror, the middle rod ticked into life.
A scrappy fight soon saw a dumpy common roll over the cord. This fish was the smallest of the trio at upper doubles and signaled the end of the action for the session.
