Spring Is Here - Bruno Medou (France)

Finally, after month's of poor angling weather, I have done what I have felt was my first proper session of the year. Two week's ago, it was still snowing in France and the ponds next to where I live were still covered in ice. However, one thing that I often noticed from experience was that as soon as the snow has melted the fish tend to get very active for a couple of days at the very least. Consequently, I was absolutely itching to get the rods out.
Last weekend, the weather forecast was a bit milder, with heavy rain along with a strong southwesterly wind charging in - hopefully it is here to stay now. Great conditions to land a fish or two I thought. Well, luckily I found myself in the right place at the right time. I was on my own on a large, picturesque public lake, which is rarely fished due to its difficulty. The lake bed is covered with snags and obstacles which tends to steer people away. However, this made it all the more appealing to me.
Anyway, through careful angling and pinpoint location, mother nature smiled upon me and I landed a dozen fish. Included in my fantastic haul was a beautiful koi that I didn’t even know was in there - just take a look at the pictures it looks as if it should be living in an ornamental pond. Along with it, I landed 3 mirrors which respectively weighed - 35lb , 41lb and 44lb. Spring is here so make sure you get the rods out, the bigguns are there to be had!

Tight lines
