Picky Scoops Top Award - Martin Pick

We are delighted to report that our very own Martin Pick has been voted Carp angler Of The Year by readers of the Angling Times. This is a well-deserved accolade for a man who has certainly had a year to remember. What’s more, Martin is one of the most humble anglers that you’re ever likely to meet, and certainly not one to blow his own trumpet, so we’re happy to do it for him!

Over the past 12 months he has landed a staggering, six different UK forties and twenty-three different thirties, almost all from the famous Wellington Country Park, in Berkshire.

Let’s hear from the man himself, but first from James Furness, news editor on the Angling Times…

“There were some incredible carp caught during 2013, but one person to consistently grace the carp news pages, was Martin Pick. When you read the weeklies it’s easy to become blasé seeing big fish reported week-in, week-out, but to catch six 40lb-plus carp in a year is a hell of an achievement. Not only is Martin a fantastic angler, but he is a great bloke to boot and well respected by everyone at the Times and a worthy winner of the 2013 Carp Angler of the Year Award.”

Martin told us, “In terms of fish caught, 2013 has been my best year ever. My dad and granddad got me into fishing originally and both of them have now sadly passed away. I try to do them proud, so to win this award, voted for by the Angling Times readers is a real honour.”

Keep your eyes on this site for an in-depth article on Martin’s year from the man himself very soon! Well done Martin, from all at Korda – we’re proud of you!
