PB For Kyle - Kyle Poxon

Hot on the heels of Neil Spooner’s big, winter common last week, his good friend Kyle Poxon found success with an even bigger one! Targeting the same water as Neil, Kyle managed to bank a fish that our own Mr Spooner had the fortune to bank last February. Kyle takes up the story…

“I had been baiting a particular area for a number of weeks and had been fortunate enough to spot a few carp feeding in the area on more than one occasion. Even though I was able to get over and bait on a regular basis I still didn’t feel that the conditions were quite right to angle. So, I kept an eye on the long-range forecast and as soon as it looked right, made my way across the field to the lake. Thankfully, the area was free and pretty soon the rods were in position.
It didn’t take long for my first bite as, at about 1am, I landed a pretty 17lb mirror and January was off to a good start. Luckily, the baited area is a margin spot so I flicked the rod back in position along with a few more baits. I was just settling back into the sleeping bag when the same rod absolutely ripped off. As soon as I picked the rod up I knew it was something a bit better. After an epic battle that lasted about 10 minutes, I slipped the net under a massive common. I was pretty sure I knew which fish it was and once on the mat, my suspicions were confirmed. My target fish, Spike, lay before me and up on the scales she went 42lb 2oz! A new personal best and in January to boot, happy days!”

A massive well done to Kyle from all at Korda.
