Fat Fish Tackle owner banks a chunk at Chilham!

Andy Reynolds notched up his second UK forty when he landed this chunky 41lb 8oz from Chilham Mill, in Kent.

The Fat Fish Tackle owner banked his biggest fish from the venue when his only bite during an overnight session produced a fish known as the Pretty One just as he was getting ready to pack up and leave.

A few fish had been coming out the previous week but no real big hits of fish were being taken, as Andy explained: “The fish were proving very hard to spot so I used my previous knowledge of the lake to make a decision on where to fish.

“I set up in a swim where I could fish across to the margins at the far end of the lake, which was about a 30 yard cast to a clear spot, and having not seen any other fish during my walk around, I did spot a small group of them moving through this area.

“The lake is naturally very silty and weed was starting to come through, so when I got a fairly hard drop I was happy and confident that my bait was presented properly.

“It was my first session using the new Sticky Baits Manila boilies and I catapulted out a few pouchfuls over each rod, with my hookbait being a bottom bait cut in half and tipped with half a wafter.

“The night passed without seeing or hearing any sign of fish, and it was the same story at dawn, but then just as I was starting to pack away the right hand rod had a slow, steady take, and after a short battle I had one of Chilhams largest residents in the net and it is my best fish from the venue so far.”

Successful tackle for Andy included a size 4 Wide Gape B hook fished on a D-rig using 15lb N-Trap Soft, with a Hybrid lead clip and Dark Matter tubing, plus Touchdown main line.
