Fantastic new fishing shows coming to Sky Sports in March!

Sky Sports has an amazing fishing-packed month to look forward to in March, with two brand new angling shows hitting your screens!

It all kicks off with the Korda British Young Carpers’ Angling Championships on Sky Sports 4, which premieres at 7pm on Wednesday March 16, and is packed full of action, including from some very big fish!

The cameras were on hand to capture all of the nail-biting action as the finalists battled it out for the £500 first prize at Oxlease Lake on the famous Linear Fisheries complex in Oxfordshire.

The carp were definitely playing ball and the fishing was fast and furious, with a variety of different tactics working for the young carpers, and some of the venue’s biggest residents put in an appearance. This resulted in several personal bests being smashed, including two fish that topped the 40lb mark – one by a considerable margin - which you’ve just got to see!

The hour long show will then be repeated later that night at 1am, plus at 8am on March 17 on Sky Sports 3, and at 1pm that day on Sky Sports 4.

As if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also be treated to the superb hour-long Korda Carp Academy 2015 just a week later, first showing at 5pm on Wednesday March 23 on Sky Sports 3!

The annual event was attended by 30 young anglers and some of the biggest names in carp fishing, including Danny Fairbrass, were on hand to teach them, and show how to fish a wide variety of different methods effectively, and just as importantly, how to properly look after any fish that they did catch and how to respect the environment.

This was the eighth Carp Academy and dozens of PBs were caught by the youngsters who were lucky enough to be chosen to attend the event at Manor Farm Fishery in Bedfordshire, and many of them were caught on camera over the three days that the event was fished.

Korda boss Danny enthused: “It was without a doubt the best year ever and the attitude of the kids was absolutely brilliant. The amount they learnt was fantastic and the instructors have given it their all 24 hours a day.

“For me this is the best part of the job, seeing all of this happen as you’ve got 30 kids going out there being great ambassadors for the sport.”

Dan Cattrall couldn’t believe his luck when he was drawn to fish with Danny and will never forgot the experience, or what he learnt, revealing: “Carp Academy is a brilliant event and one that every young angler should experience. The three days will help me succeed on local lakes to French holiday venues in the future, and for that I must say a big thank you to Korda and Danny.”

There is still time to apply for this year’s Carp Academy if you are between 13 and 17, and it is an experience that you can’t afford to miss. To apply download an application form from here: http://po.st/CarpAcademy2016
