Cast For Life kicks off for 2015 - organise your own event!

The Cast For Life fund-raising campaign, which sees anglers raising money by organising charity matches to help beat cancer, is back for 2015 and bigger than ever with backing from Korda.

Following a successful campaign in 2014, which saw over £12,000 raised for Cancer Research UK, anglers are again being invited to organise their own Cast For Life match or angling event with the aim of raising over £500 per event.

Events raising more than £250 will be supported by Korda with the donation of a goodie bag worth £250, to be used as prizes or in a fund-raising raffle or auction.

Korda marketing manager, Tom Burns, explained: “This is the third year Korda have supported Cast For Life and we’ve successfully raised between £10-12k a year, and this year we’d really like to break £15k, but we can only do this with the support of lots of kind-hearted anglers. We can all do our ”

Events run in recent seasons include match-style carp events, fishing with the stars-style weekends, club water matches plus auctions and raffles.

4) Contact your local fishing venue and see if they can help - ensure you ask for a charity discount! Use the email above to request a Charity Letter of Authority if required.

5) Book in a day and consider the logistics- how much will participants pay to take part? How long will the match go on for? Will there be an auction or raffle?

7) Take money for places in advance - this might just be a deposit, but will hold places and reassure you and the venue.

8) Once you’ve generated £250 on your justgiving page, we will send you a Korda or Guru bundle worth £250 to use as a prize at your event. Use the email above to make your selection and let us know where you’d like it sent to.

9) Think about how you can increase your fundraising - can each participant get sponsored for the length of time they fish/ the most fish they catch / the total weight? Can you run a raffle or auction at your event or sell refreshments?

10) Hold your event, raise as much money as possible and help beat cancer sooner!
