A Trip Of A Lifetime - Steve Smith

I thought that I would write to you and let you know about my most recent catch – it was one of my most memorable. The destination was Maison Du Lac Bleu, situated in France – a venue that really appealed to me having viewed it on your free DVD’s.
Having drawn the lake known as Neuf I knew I had the chance of catching a giant. That said, I would have to angle well in order to tempt one these monster leviathans.
My rigs were kept pretty simple incorporating size 6 Wide Gape B’s as there is a barbless only rule and I knotless knotted these to eight inches of Hybrid Soft braid – just tackle that I have utmost confidence in using. Many anglers try to overcomplicate things just because they’re going to France, but English tactics work just as well, if not better.
Now, having scrutinized the DVD’s I was well aware that the fish were becoming wary of rigs and lead setups. Carp that have seen it all can actually use the weight of the lead to rid the presentation, so I opted for a Shokka style arrangement. This allows the lead to run freely up and down the leader resulting in a free-running presentation.
Using a quality bait, I managed a session of a lifetime. Just for the record, I had 10 up to 29lb, 7 up to 39lb, 6 up to 48lb, topped by a giant tipping the scales round to 55lb 6oz. My Korda gear did me proud and in all I received 25 takes and landed 24 carp!
Many thanks for all your products and the free DVD that gave so much information on the complex.
